‘Yet a time is coming when true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is the spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.’ John 4:23-24

We are fortunate to live on this side of the cross where we can worship God wherever and whenever we want.

Before Jesus died and rose again, the temple in Jerusalem was the appointed place to worship God.

A sacrifice would have to be made by the priest for your sins before your praise or petitions could be heard by God.

That sacrifice was made once and for all by Jesus on the cross, so now we can come before God with our praise and petition after we have confessed our sins to Jesus and cleansed our lives through this confession to him directly.

That is what the verse means by, true worshipers.

We can only worship him in spirit, through his spirit, and in truth.

Truth means we cannot lie to ourselves and pretend we have not sinned and think we can come before him without cleansing our lives from this sin.

It is so easy to do.

Just ask God.

God seeks worshipers who are truthful with themselves and are seeking him with all of their lives.

That means every part.

The Spirit helps us with this.

God is Spirit and we need to worship him in spirit.

God is so worthy of our worship and praise.

He sent his Son to die for us so we could have that fellowship with him that allows us to worship him whenever we want.

His grace covers our sins so we can enter into his presence with praise and worship.

In Spirit and in truth.

Dear God, forgive me of my sins.

Help me to be truthful to myself and to you as I enter into worship.

You are Spirit and I will worship you in my spirit and in truth.

Help me to always be ready to give you praise throughout my day.
